We’re still in a lockdown, here in the Greater Toronto Area, and working from home. I’ve been doing that for years, but it feels different now. How are you holding up?

Tornado Warnings
It’s usually quiet while I work from home, which makes it easier to concentrate on getting things done. There was lots of noise last Sunday though, when our phones blasted out a couple of tornado warnings! How many more things do we have to worry about in 2020?
Backyard Science Experiments
One advantage of self-employment is that you can set your own hours. Our grandson came to stay with us last week, and I gave myself lots of time off while he was here. One of our activities was backyard science experiments with water, and we learned a few things about science and videos, while having fun.
Bad Subtitles Do Not Spark Joy
A few months ago, I borrowed the Marie Kondo book, Tidying Up, from the online library, after hearing so much about it. There was a long wait for the book, so lots of other people must have heard about it too. And now she has a Netflix series too, and last week’s deep freeze was the perfect time to stay indoors and watch it. The content was fun, but the subtitles weren’t!
Show Who You Are
Ten years ago, on January 4, 2009, I registered the debradalgleish.com domain, to “claim my name” online. I figured that if anyone searched for my name in Google, my domain might be listed near the top of the results. Then, if people landed here, I could direct them to my other sites, like Contextures. Have you got a domain with your name?
Happy New Year 2014
Is your new year off to a good start? Or is your head still a bit foggy after last night’s celebrations?
I usually stay home for a quiet New Year’s Eve, but last night we went out for a dinner, to a small pub within walking distance.
In the picture below, you can see the table decorations that greeted us. There were the usual New Year’s gadgets – noisemakers, horn and hat. There was also a box that advertised special cocktails – Cereal Shooters. It’s a strange way to advertise drinks for adults, but maybe I’m just too old now, to appreciate all the new fads.
Anyway, Happy New Year, and all the best in 2014.
