First thing this morning, I opened Firefox, and my home page (google.com) was showing a Doodle with birthday cakes.
What a coincidence, I thought. Some famous person must share my birthday. So, I pointed to the image, to see whose name was in the popup description.
To my surprise, it was my name that appeared! I don’t remember telling Google my birth date, but it must be in the account information somewhere. Or, Google just knows everything.
Now I’m trying to decide if this is charming, or a little scary.
Would your customers like it if you celebrated their birthdays, or would they prefer a less personal relationship with your company?
Now maybe I should go out for lunch, and look for a restaurant that gives you a free meal on your birthday.
