Usually I copy the old Outlook files to a new machine, or upgrade over an existing version, but this time I was starting fresh.<\/p>\n<p>In the past, I\u2019ve had one or more folders for each client, plus dozens of other folders for website related emails, personal correspondence, newsgroup follow-up, and anything else I could think of.<\/p>\n<h3>The Simple System<\/h3>\n<p>This time, I\u2019m keeping it simple. In addition to the built in folders that <a href=\"https:\/\/debradalgleish.com\/blog\/2017\/10\/24\/better-microsoft-outlook-searches\/\">Outlook<\/a> has, I\u2019ve only created 3 folders for my mail:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>_ Followup\n<li>_Business\n<li>_Personal<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"OutlookFolders01\" border=\"0\" alt=\"OutlookFolders01\" src=\"http:\/\/debradalgleish.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/OutlookFolders01.png\" width=\"282\" height=\"255\"><\/p>\n<p>The underscores keep my folders above the other Outlook folders, so they\u2019re easy to find. So far, it\u2019s working well. I don\u2019t have to think about filing, or wonder which subfolder I stored an email in. To find something in the Business folder, I can sort by name, or date, or use the filter or search tools.<\/p>\n<h3>Your Outlook System<\/h3>\n<p>How about you?
