Now it\u2019s easy to see where the screenshot ends!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/debradalgleish.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/screenshotborder02.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"273\" height=\"208\" title=\"screenshot with border stands out from background\" style=\"border: 0px currentcolor; border-image: none; display: inline; background-image: none;\" alt=\"screenshot with border stands out from background\" src=\"https:\/\/debradalgleish.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/screenshotborder02_thumb.png\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Batch Edit With Snagit<\/h2>\n<p>I\u2019ve used <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techsmith.com\/snagit\/\" target=\"_blank\">Snagit for screen captures<\/a> and image editing since 2010. It\u2019s the tool I use for all of the Excel tutorial screenshots on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.contextures.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">my Contextures site<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You can only get Snagit in a subscription now, so I\u2019m still using my standalone version of Snagit 2022. It has all the features that I need!<\/p>\n<p>Listed below are the steps that I followed. If you\u2019re using a different version of Snagit, the steps and commands might be different.<\/p>\n<h3>Select Files to Edit<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>First, in Windows Explorer, I selected a batch of old screenshot image files, without borders<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Important<\/strong>: All selected files should be the same file format (png in this example)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>Next, right-click on any one of the selected image files<\/li>\n<li>In the pop-up menu, point to Snagit<\/li>\n<li>Click on the <strong>Batch Convert Images<\/strong> command<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Step 1 of 4 \u2013 Selecting Files<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Batch Export dialog box opens at Step 1 of 4, showing a list of the selected files<\/li>\n<li>At the bottom right, click the <strong>Next<\/strong> button<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/debradalgleish.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/screenshotborder04.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"318\" height=\"286\" title=\"Batch Export dialog box with list of selected files\" style=\"border: 0px currentcolor; border-image: none; display: inline; background-image: none;\" alt=\"Batch Export dialog box with list of selected files\" src=\"https:\/\/debradalgleish.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/screenshotborder04_thumb.png\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Step 2 of 4 \u2013 Apply Effects<\/h3>\n<p>In step 2 of 4, any existing effects are listed at the left. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To apply new effects, or change the existing effects, click the Choose button<\/li>\n<li>For this batch, I clicked the Border command<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/debradalgleish.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/screenshotborder05.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"409\" height=\"401\" title=\"screenshotborder05\" style=\"border: 0px currentcolor; border-image: none; display: inline; background-image: none;\" alt=\"screenshotborder05\" src=\"https:\/\/debradalgleish.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/screenshotborder05_thumb.png\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the Border settings, I checked the options that I wanted, set the width to 1 pixel, and selected black as the main colout<\/li>\n<li>Click OK, to go back to Step 2, and then click Next<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/debradalgleish.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/screenshotborder06.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"190\" height=\"282\" title=\"screenshotborder06\" style=\"border: 0px currentcolor; border-image: none; display: inline; background-image: none;\" alt=\"screenshotborder06\" src=\"https:\/\/debradalgleish.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/screenshotborder06_thumb.png\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Step 3 of 4 \u2013 Format Options<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>In step 3, choose an output directory, or use the default Snagit directory<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tip<\/strong>: Don\u2019t use the folder that the original images are in. <\/li>\n<li>Send them to a different folder, where you can check the results<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>Next, choose, the file format \u2013 either the same as the original files, or the file format you want to convert them to<\/li>\n<li>Then select a file name setting.
