When I used to go out to visit clients, I had to adjust to all kinds of background noise, like factory machines, piped-in music and snack-crunching cubicle mates (they’re the worst). In my home office, I like to keep things quiet \u2013 just me, the fan, and the ticking clock.<\/p>\n

The only time that I’ve listened to music voluntarily while working was many years ago, when I was writing my pivot table books. After supper, I’d put on my headphones, and listen to music \u2013 but not just any kind of music.<\/p>\n
Most of the time, my choice was acoustic guitar, with Canadian guitarist, Jesse Cook, as a favourite. Back then, the Pandora music streaming service was available in Canada, so I’d listen to nuevo flamenco<\/a> stations for hours. No singing, just soothing guitar music.<\/p>\n
